Thanks Paul, I enjoyed reading your findings. I consider that your trip to England was well worth the effort as your research, photos and sketches have put a much more personal perspective to Henry and Susannah's lives, even down to picturing wher...
I have just placed a notice in the social part of the Forum announcing a celebration for William Charleton and Mary Getty. There are two email addresses for contact so wondered what you think of persuing the idea that these ladies may have links t...
I think the only way to resolve this problem is the get the marriage cert. this would give Dorothys parents names there are just too may Dorothy M. in B. D & M to see which one she could be.
Found Edward l Hudson birth 1901 St Leonards to Edward and jessie but again I do not have these names
Roslyn
Sorry I do not have any of the names you mentioned on my tree.
I will do a bit or research a bit later and see if I can find anything.
I do have a very large data base of Teale and Gaudry families.
Roslyn
Do you think you would have any chance with the widow of micahel hudson as you have known them in the past?I know she lives in a well known street of kirribili just near Kirribilli house. I think my old brain tells me the street is Billyard aavenue or something like that and she was in the phone book when I looked there. -- maybe a bit too daring a move but maybe worth the effort?
Neil it s a long time ago but I remember she told me she was a Diana descendant and of course she was rather elderly. I had confidence we would find her with all the researches available when the time came to go in to female descendants totally. Male descendants were even a lot of work then with my first husband leaving us every Saturday to go to the city and record Kable names and places they had been found. With the primitive recording system we had then it was always going to be a huge task to get to the female line and in the end it never happened in my own household. We did get some families however as sisters and aunts were named in each cluster and i went out of my way to contact any older members in each pod.
After taking all my records of years to Windsor Library we were fortunate that Roslyn Robinson took those records and embellished them ever since over nearly 30 years and she is still going strong with it. -- on all lines. So as far as I know Roslyn will have the best chance to pin down the name of Dorothy Edwards. I think at the time Dorothy rang me I was confident I would connect with her some more but it never happened and then I wished I'd got further with that call. Did you know about the near theft in the early 80's?
yes Neil that is right ---- Dorothy was in fact the lady who had the jug. She rang me years ago and told me so. It was either just before or just after ( can't remember exactly when ) it was exhibited in the showcase at the old Rocks Information Centre up at the Sailor's home building a long time ago.( early 80's I think) The word got out about it being there and a newer convict type ( hope it was not one of our own ) tried to steal it from the cabinet but luckily without success. There was a break in overnight and it seemed to be the target for the activity. Promptly the article went underground.
I saw it at the time it was being featured . I have two photos Paul gave me many years ago and so I put them into the photos section here as I believe in sharing the knowledge but sadly a lot of people do not share about anything and just want info all the time. I am aware of who they are though as they make it so obvious.
Neil, I hope you received the email from me re the new book -- I think they made such a good story in the papers that it is of no need to buy the book now anyway even if you have never heard the story-- it was too much info in my books.( pardon the pun)
Who are you to Henry and Susannah? Which of Henry and Susannah's children is your ancestor:
Great great great grand son
Tell us a little about yourself:
My mother, Lillian was a Kable ,down from Albert John, John, George Esto and Henry. I am retired after serving in the Royal Australian Navy for 43 years, joining at the outbreak of the Korean War. I live in Canberra with my wife Joan and we have three (grown up) children. As well as the Kable family we have researched the Jones, Javens, Jacobs, McGeorge, Hendersons and Sodens (my wife also has Sodens as ancestors) in their association with the Kables..
