Hi folks,
As if it wasn't bizzare enough finding out about my hanged ancestor, and his son Henry Kable, but the weirdest of coincidences happened yesterday.
My mother-in-law left us with many old items when she died. Among them were two old stamp albums, which I decided to look at yesterday in the hope of either selling, or passing them on to someone who might appreciate them.
When I opened to the first page of one of them, the attached pictures of the three stamps left me flabbergasted. In fact my flabber had never been so gasted !!!!.
This gets weirder and weirder. Incidentally the album contains quite a lot of other Austrailian stamps.
What are the chances of finding them amongst the millions of stamps in the world which could have been in those albums.
With this type of coincidence about I certainly made sure I bought a lottery ticket today.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, and my tale.
Kindest regards. Dan
(I posted this recently...but by mistake to my own page ! ...It's an age thing)
I've never seen those stamps before. Very impressive! They make me wonder about a few things - who was the artist, where did they get their inspiration, and was it a copy of a piece of art? Just who was the artist thinking of when he included that little character on the left? I know who we all would like it to be!
Advertised in the paper "Telegraph 'this week is the fact that the Mitchell Library now has a new site on line for the viewing of almost all journals of the First Fleet and other early historical documents. visit www.sl.gov.nsw.au for information on what is available there.
I saw two photos taken by a newspaper man on the night of the first large dinner at Grace Brothers years ago. I organised that one of the reuions and wonder if anybody can recognise themselves from the photos. ?
Hi Peter, I have tried as a member of the general public to find the www.henrykable.com site itself through Google but it will not come up as such. It can be seen as a link to your Moore family also the individiual pages ( some of them will come up directly as in the Google list. Alas--- please anybody else too--- can you get the site to come up as before directly when the name is typed into Google search??
Hi Zillah
Google takes some time to refind the site. They call it "spidering" or indexing. Basically the spider looks for links to and from sites i.e. henrykable.com The more links the more visible it is to Google the more links the more relevant it is to the search. this process may take about a month to move it back to number one position. So you will have to be patient. One way to increase the profile is to put links about henrykable.com on user groups or other family history sites
Thanks Peter I already "kind of knew" that but get confused and expect it to turn up anyway which is rather silly of me.!! I hope others can get the point too . I will email my list when it shows straight out and then we can talk about me altering some info-- put in something new! --- to entice people to go take another look. ?!
WOW a new book written in England by an Englishman I presume. The latest person to join our site here is the Publisher of this book. Go to his page after the members page and he being the last person to join here and see the cover which he has put into the photos. Comments please.Beside the obvious question will it come to Australia?, when? where? and how much eh? Liven up everyone you have something to comment on now!!.
